I'm slightly joyful.

I'm the type that carries a cell phone for necessity, but secretly resents people calling me. I'm not a phone person, and I do so much better in person. I swear that there's something sociological/anthropological to glean from this. I think I would've liked living in a society where time wasn't dictated in minutes, but in daylight hours, months, and seasons. I can't imagine 5 minutes meant anything to someone in the 1700s- you waited days to cross paths with someone. Cell phones are a detestable kind of instant gratification.
But, I praise telephones today because I was able to get a hold of my academic advisor for advice on my academic situation. We talked for quite a while, and it's great to hear that she's willing to go to bat for me. Someone that believes in my academic ability. It was great to hear positive affirmation, that I'm a good student. Indeed, if I wasn't, I'm sure she wouldn't be offering to email the director of the Anthropology department in support of me. *smile*
Otherwise, I've accomplished quite a bit today, and I plan to tackle more moving-related things. I think I'll pack up some of those pretty dishes that I never use since I never have company.
