Best $90 I've ever spent.

My rabbit, Punker, was not feeling like herself today. When my other half brought her in from outside, she was lethargic and not at all interested in her dinner. Big warning sign! She's usually ravenous for her pellets, even though she has grass hay all day at her disposal. She turned much more calm and scary as the evening went on. I called the local animal emergency clinic, Dove Lewis, and the receptionist advised that I bring her in.

I was a bit worried- emergency care does not come cheap, but I wanted my rabbit to have the best care as soon as possible. She's always been healthy, so this scared me quite a bit. I had my boyfriend come along for moral support, since I was nervous and nearly crying before I left the apartment. We made it there, and even though it was really hospital-like in a bad way- sterile, kind of drab, and institutional- I'm absolutely pleased with their care.  I had to wait a while in the room, but the doctors and techs were really kind.

So, Punker got some sub-cutaneous fluids, which I'm all too familiar with from work, but only a little. She didn't get the usual camel hump that the dogs do. They also sent me home with a herbivore mix that you use to force feed nutrients into their systems.  Luckily, when I got home, she actually ate. *big sigh of relief* I've been offering her small portions of carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, apple, and romaine. So far, so good. I opened her door and she's sitting outside by my feet, calmly. I think she's glad to be home...

Best $90 I've ever spent.
