It's amazing...

just how much a shift in weather can change the way I feel.
Yesterday, the b/f and I rode our bikes to the supposedly affordable organic grocery store in Kitsilano. And, yikes, I can only shop there for sale items. I was just blown away by the prices on things: dried organic cranberries $8, box of cereal $6, etc. I'm just way too poor for shopping there. However, I am definitely able to shop at Young's produce market- I went crazy on the bell peppers and roma tomatoes because they looked so delicious. "Going Crazy" usually indicates a bill around $20 CAN. And, it's a lot of food.
Classes are done for the term, so things are slowing down. I still have projects to work on, but I'm having a hard time staying focused. I'm kicking my caffeine habit, sleeping in, and making delicious healthy food to get my body back on track.

Was this Choices or Capers or C-something, can't remember the name. ?? I used to go there, I think. /shrug.
Yeah, organic healthy food can be expensive. Good on you for making the effort though! My main diet at the moment is Jack in the Crack / Taco Bell / microwave meals. Ugh.
And good on you for kicking the caffeine habit, too – I've been trying and failing miserably.
Choices is supposed to be the affordable one, while Capers is the uber chi-chi store for all the Kitsilano well-to-dos. I was amazed at the prices at both, actually. I was spoiled when I lived in Oregon. ;_; *sniffle*
I've been trying to wean myself off of it, since I've been drinking Diet Coke so steadily for the last couple months. I had to break down and have a cup of coffee because I was feeling so weird. Ugh.
It's the effort that counts, right?
Ah, yes. Welcome to Canada: we'll take your money now, thank you.
At least the gov't is good about giving the money back to the people. I know I randomly get checks in the mail from them for no apparent reason.
Effort counts most of all! Though honestly caffeine is better for you than aspartame (found in diet drinks). Esp. if you're me. I'm allergic. But it's no good anyway, causes cancer. And so does EVERYTHING else, apparently, but still. I wouldn't recommend it.
Augh. Now that I've brought that depressing bit into this conversation…yes, I remember now – Choices is where my dad and I used to go all the time, and Capers is where he refuses to (even though he really could afford it). Canadian prices are bad, but Maui is worse for food. Vice versa on books though. If I could buy my books at Maui prices and my food at Canadian I'd be happy.
Yeah, I'm not the healthiest person, and I'm sure kicking soda would be a big improvement.
It's too bad that I'm poor, because otherwise I think I'd like living here. ;_; Maui sounds like a nice place for book shopping- one of my favorite pastimes!
I know that feeling. I'd like living in either of the places I spend time in were I not poor. Ah well, that's what joining the Navy's for! Lol.
I wish Maui had more than one or two independent bookstores – I'd enjoy book shopping more if there were. But we do have a nice big Barnes and Nobles, even if it is a 30 minute drive from civilization, lol. I can usually convince my bf to buy me books there – he gets a discount cause he works at Gamestop. :D
lol. My b/f used to work there, too, in Oregon. Decent discounts on stuff. ;)
Oregon is frickin' awesome for independent bookstores. We have Powell's in Portland, which is amazing. Great store. I miss Oregon. :(
